Whether you’re chasing an adrenaline rush, looking to try something completely new, or searching for one of the best family activities in Cornwall, wakeboarding offers the perfect combination of excitement, achievement and fun.

Never Tried Wakeboarding Before?
Worried you won’t be able to get up? Most beginners are standing and riding during their very first session.
Our beginner coaching system is specifically designed to make learning wakeboarding as easy and enjoyable as possible. Before heading onto the water, you’ll receive a simple land-based briefing covering the key techniques you’ll use when riding.
Once on the water, you’ll start on our specialist learner bar, allowing you to learn in a controlled and confidence-building way. Unlike traditional learning methods, the learner bar places you right beside your coach, who can talk you through each step, offer instant feedback and help build confidence as you progress. Having your coach only a few feet away makes learning faster, easier and far less intimidating for complete beginners.
Most first-time riders are standing within 5–10 minutes and many progress to riding behind the boat on the rope during their very first session.
You don’t need to be particularly strong, athletic or experienced to learn wakeboarding. With the right coaching and equipment, most people are surprised by how quickly they progress. We’ve taught children as young as seven years old, water skiers in their seventies and one of our favourite success stories was helping a customer learn kneeboarding for her 65th birthday. If you’re reasonably mobile and willing to give it a go, there’s a very good chance you’ll be enjoying your first ride sooner than you think.
Why Wakeboarding Is Easier Than You Think
Many people are surprised by how quickly they progress when learning to wakeboard. While it looks impressive from the shore, the right coaching, equipment and learning environment can make wakeboarding far easier than most people expect.
If you’ve tried other board sports before, you’ll already have a head start. Snowboarding transfers particularly well to wakeboarding, while surfing, skateboarding and longboarding can also help. In many ways, board sports are like languages – once you’ve learned one, picking up the next becomes much easier because your balance, body positioning and board awareness are already developing.
That said, absolutely no previous experience is required. Every season we teach complete beginners who have never stepped on a board before, and most are surprised by how quickly they progress.
People are often concerned that wakeboarding looks physically demanding, but technique is far more important than strength. You don’t need to be exceptionally fit, strong or athletic to enjoy wakeboarding. With the right instruction, people of a wide range of ages and abilities can take part and have a fantastic time on the water.
Another common concern is falling. When beginners are learning, we operate at slower speeds to make the learning process easier and more comfortable. Falling into the water at beginner speeds is often far gentler than people expect, helping new riders build confidence quickly without worrying about getting everything perfect straight away.
Whether you’re looking to learn a completely new skill, challenge yourself, or simply try something different during your Cornwall holiday, wakeboarding offers an exciting and rewarding experience that most people can enjoy far sooner than they imagine.
